|
|
Due to popular demands, I'm going to throw a workshop for Beginner/Intermediate photographers on Photoshop. Advanced Photoshop users need not apply. This will be done at my place in Cupertino. It will be held on 8/14/2004 at 10:30am SHARP and ends at noon. We'll then adjourn to the nearby BJ restaurant for lunch.
The topics that we'll go through are the following:
1. RAW vs JPEG (10 minutes)
2. Photoshop Masks & Layers (20 minutes)
3. Fun stuff - Retouching a portrait using layers & mask. (20 minutes)
4. Real life applications - Utilizing masks & layers on YOUR RAW images (30 minutes)
Key requirements:
1. You will need to bring a laptop with Photoshop installed (prefer the CS version). If you have another image editing tool similar to Photoshop, you are welcomed to join us but it will be slightly difficult to follow since whatever menu items, steps, etc. will be prepared for Photoshop. If you do not have a laptop but would like to attend, you are welcomed to as well.
2. You will need to know how how to use Photoshop for basic image editing needs such as opening/closing documents, resizing, understand what dpi means, know how to use levels, curves.
3. You will be required to bring a sample image with you in RAW format for workshop use.
Please fill the following form and reply to this thread if you are interested to sign up. RSVP is required. First come first served. Unfortunately, my little place can only accomodate up to 12 motivated individuals. So, first 12 interested parties who will DEFINITELY show up will get the spot. I apologize but due to the restricted sized of my living room, don't bring your wife, children, aunts, uncles and grandparents. However, they ARE very welcomed to join us for lunch though!

Types of photos you like to take: nature, macro, anything interesting. Haven't definitely serious preferences yet. Only started picking up photography a few months ago, but I'm serious about it FWIW
How much digital darkroom experience do you have? Pretty much none! I can do basic tasks in CS and also play with levels, curves, etc. but I don't really know why/when I should be doing it.
If I would be too inexperienced, let me know and I'll free up a spot!

How much digital darkroom experience do you have? 8+ years of PSP, no layers though
I'm going to install the 30 day "Adobe Photoshop CS tryout" on my laptop and use that for this demonstration, then transfer what I've learned to PSP.
Thanks!

I have been a digital camera and flatbed scanner software developer and user since late '90s (mostly Canon equipment). My current gear is Photoshop 5.5, Paint Shop Pro 7, C1 LE 3.5, ACDSee 6.0.3 PowerPack, and a lot of other assorted software. Part of my motivation for attending this would be decide whether to put down some serious $$$ for PS CS. The rest is to make better use of my existing tools.
I'll bring a laptop with PS 5.5 & C1 LE. _________________ Cheers,
Tapani
